Warboys Amateur Dramatics Society, or WADS for short, was founded in 1990.
Presently we have around thirty members, ages range from twelve to seventy plus. The one thing we share most, is our enthusiasm for putting on shows and
events to entertain the public. It's a serious project but we do have a lot of
fun and laughter along the way.
Our main event is the Pantomime, which we put on every January. These have been
enormously popular and we invariably play to capacity audiences (oh yes we do!).
On other occasions, as a summer event, we've done revues, concert parties, a
wild west evening and even a mummers play.
Like any theatre, it's not just the acting, dancing and singing that make up a
show. There are so many practical things to do as well such as lighting, sound,
scenery, prop making, make-up, back stage staff, front of house etc. So, even if
treading the boards isn't your thing we still need any technical, craft or
organisational skills you may have - these are just as important.
We meet at the WI Hall in George Lane and if the idea of joining us appeals,
just drop in on one of those evenings. Look forward to seeing you.
