Cambridgeshire Play Pathfinder Grant

This is a scheme where funding of up to £50,000 is available for a play space area by working with Cambridgeshire County Council as part of the “Play Pathfinder” initiative.

In the first stage, play areas incorporated a range of natural play features including boulders and planting; alongside more traditional play equipment. They have been designed with input from local young people to improve the existing play in environments that extend beyond the traditionally equipped play areas.

The scheme is now in its second stage and a further 18 play areas are planned. Applications for funding are to be submitted in two parts. Part A, which focuses on site identification, initial consultation work with the community and future sustainability of the play space. This must be submitted by 24th July 2009. Part B commences if you are successful with Part A and have approval from CCC. Part B will detail work towards a design, further consultation undertaken, final designs and detailed costing of the project. This part must be submitted by 28th August 2009.

The Parish Council have formed a small Working Group and are in the process of implementing consultation with the young people of our community. Consultation papers have been sent to the village school and various organisations ranging from the Under Fives to the Youthie, as it is essential to establish the young people’s response as soon as possible. We do not wish the young people of Warboys to lose out on the possibility of £50,000 grant funding for play space and need you to be supportive of this venture. Hoping that the Part A submission is successful then additional specialised skills will be needed to see this project through to fruition. So we appeal to those talented local people who can guide/advise on design/landscaping and costing to volunteer their skills as a ‘Team’ member for Part B.
